One of the great things I like about my job is that I get to work from home three days a week. In the two days a week I go into the office I go in after the traffic – with a drive time of about 9:30 to 10:30. I usually travel in peace and quiet just thinking about what I plan to do that day in the office. Today I was a little bit agitated with a problem that I was going to face when I got there so I turned on the radio to quiet my mind. I was looking for Rush Limbaugh but found instead Bill O’Reilly interviewing Ann Coulter, discussing her new book and the problems Bill has had recently with Media Matters.
Now for those who don’t know, Bill and Ann are two very conservative pundits. Bill is on Fox News and Ann is a publishing powerhouse, although Bill also has six books to his credit. They are both very polarizing. You either love them or hate them. I prefer Ann over Bill because I think she is more accurate than he is most of the time but they were both a delight to listen to as I drove the last twenty minutes in to the office.
Ann was making the point that for the past ten years she has been speaking her mind, which of course the liberal media hate because she is almost always 180 degrees opposite them in the position she takes. She says that the thing she has learned in the last ten years is that the media is going to hate her and castigate her no matter what she says but that she has made up her mind that they are really gutless and not as powerful as they would like to think they are – mainly because they are usually wrong about things.
I agree with Ann and wonder why there aren’t more people like her standing up for the conservative point of view. It’s mainly Rush, Ann and usually Bill. I would consider those the big three targets of George Soros and Media Matters. Close behind comes Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. Ann’s latest book has a great title, “If Democrats had any brains they’d be Republicans.” Her style is obviously controversial and confrontational. She does not claim to be impartial or balanced.
I finally found Rush over on KFI and caught him just as he was saying this about the people over at Media Matters: “They detest people of faith, people who believe in God, because people who have faith and believe in God know that there are things in life much larger than themselves, and the faith and the strength and the confidence that that faith provides people threatens liberals, because to liberals — now, I’m talking about the real radical liberals; the real radical liberals, the leaders of these movements — it’s all about them.
They don’t have faith in anything other than themselves. They don’t believe there’s anything more than man, and that they are the smartest among us, and they want to be the focus — when they aren’t. They’re deathly afraid of people of faith because they don’t have any, and it’s something, I think, that needs to be pounded into people. People are always asking me, “How can these people be the way they are?” They’re scared.” Right on Rush. Dittos.
