What type of blogger are you?

I ran across a new blog analyzing tool over at the Typealyzer. I am an INTP – Thinker. I know, I’m shocked too. Unfortunately, INTP‘s can also be dull and boring. Carol, on the other hand is an ESFP – the performer. Her analysis (below mine) is much more interesting. That’s why I married her. We complement each other.

Hat tip: Clark Goble at Mormon Metaphysics

Tim’s analysis:

“The logical and analytical type. They are especially attuned to difficult creative and intellectual challenges and always look for something more complex to dig into. They are great at finding subtle connections between things and imagine far-reaching implications.

“They enjoy working with complex things using a lot of concepts and imaginative models of reality. Since they are not very good at seeing and understanding the needs of other people, they might come across as arrogant, impatient and insensitive to people that need some time to understand what they are talking about.”

Carol’s analysis:

“The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don’t like to plan ahead – they are always in risk of exhausting themselves.

“The enjoy work that makes them able to help other people in a concrete and visible way. They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation – qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.”

  1. Interesting. That site viewed my current blog as ISTP. As you know, my blog is predominantly a collection of quotations (by other people).I am moving my blog to a new site and eliminated some quotations. That site viewed my new blog as INTJ, which is more accurate in regards to myself.

  2. mormonsoprano.com

Fun tool.It currently tells me I am an ESTP “The DOER”. So I am considered active and funny, but can’t sit still for very long. That cracks me up, since I pretty much spend the majority of my life sitting still at a computer, or a piano, or in a choir loft, or in the bus and the car….My theory is that it scans your top post, and uses some sort of Boolean word search. My current post is very fun oriented (a diversion from my otherwise fairly serious stuff). I’m going to try this analysis again after my next post just to see if I get a different answer.

  3. I found a new hobby for LDS Bloggers>Goggle has opened up their search engine ranking system to all users.I've been doing searches on LDS themes and "promoting" pro-LDS sites and "removing" anti-LDS sites. Its a lot of fun – try it out.

  4. Tim, this is what I posted on another blog that posted the same link: INTP – The ThinkersProbably just because I tend to write 57 word sentences – with lots of punctuation marks, not all of which, understandably, have any bearing on the content of what I actually write (although they do make it much more difficult for people to realize they still are reading one long, non-run-on sentence – at least according to classic definitions).

  5. It’s interesting that, as I agree with what mormonsoprano said about how Typealyzer probably analyzes your top post, that I should come out as ENTP. I have had MBTI and Keirsey tests done for various reasons many times over since early 1980s, and I’m usually INTP. My I and T can sometimes turn into E and F, because I’m close to the border on those and the test situation can affect the result, as well as the language of the questions (there are several updates to them, too). How geeky is this, really? 😉
